Four Fierce Teas

It is both beneficial and soothing to start your day with a hot mug of herbal tea. The hot water and herbs will start your digestion while imbuing you with their medicinal magic.

These are my TOP FOUR herbal tea recommendations. You can use loose leaf tea, but if you prefer tea bags, I would go with the brand Traditional Medicinals. They are organic, which is very important when it comes to steeping herbs in hot water.

Another significant feature of this brand is that the bags and string themselves do not contain plastic or other harmful chemicals that WILL leach into your hot cup of tea and which ARE present in most if not all other tea bags. This is what their tea bags are made of:

“We’re proud to say our paper tea bags are fully compostable, non-heat sealed, and do not contain any plastics. Our non-GMO tea bags are made from sustainably harvested abacá (Musa textilis) fiber, which is also known as manila hemp, even though it is actually a species of banana, and FSC-certified wood pulp. The tea bags are naturally gluten-free.”

Since 1982, Traditional Medicinals (TM) has been using specially made natural fiber tea bags, and now, there is finally a new verification system—Non-GMO Project Verified—to validate what we’ve been doing right since the very beginning. Some might even call us the originals. To top it off, we’ve recently added organic and Non-GMO Project Verified cotton strings, as well as tags made with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, ensuring that every part of our tea bag that steeps in your cup is healthy for your body and the environment.”

“Instead of environmentally hazardous processing agents, we use peroxide and oxygen to clean the tea bag fiber, we do not use elemental chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, or chlorine gas. This process is important to ensure the removal of plant resins, or lignins, which reside in the pulp fiber so that the tea bags are clean, neutral, free of residues and don’t break apart.”

There is one thing I would say against their tea bags. They need better quotes on their tags. Learn more about their tea bags here

Without further ado, these four teas will bring you COMFORT and VITALITY.

Nettle

From the Medical Medium: “Nettle leaves are a powerful herbal medicine that grow abundantly in the wild. They are rich in chlorophyll and minerals such as iron, chromium, zinc, copper, magnesium, silicon, cobalt, and calcium. Nettles are also high in vitamins A, E, D, C, & K. Nettle tea is a strong immune booster and has the ability to neutralize toxic antigens in the body.”

“Nettles also contain a potent anti-inflammatory agent which help to curb the action of cytokines, one of the key components to inflammation in the body. Nettle leaves are also very helpful in preventing chronic headaches, sore throats, sinus infections, and fatigue and are beneficial for diabetics as it is known to lower blood sugar levels.”

“Nettles are known to help relief bronchial ailments such as chronic coughing, chest congestion, COPD, and TB. Nettles are also powerful enough to help to eliminate viral and bacterial infections and aid in removing excess fluids in the body by acting as a natural diuretic. Nettle leaf can provide relief for digestive issues such as nausea, flatulence, acid reflux, and colitis.”

“Nettle tea supports the endocrine system including the spleen, thyroid, and pancreas. It is also beneficial in boosting liver and heart health and helps to prevent urinary tract infections as well as bladder and kidney stones. It is life-giving and helps with life-lengthening, it’s an amazing anti-inflammatory for tired organs, and contains healing alkaloids yet to be discovered through scientific research.”

“In countless cases where a woman’s reproductive system is considered the problem, such as when it comes to hormonal health, it’s really the adrenals that need help as the adrenal glands share the job equally of producing estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone in women. This is where nettle leaf can help. This anti-radiation wild food is amazing for pampering the adrenal glands and other members of the endocrine system that are overburdened, overworked, and overfatigued. Since the ovaries are part of the endocrine system, nettle is a win-win—it helps address multiple sources of hormone disruption at once.”

“Nettle leaf is the ultimate reproductive herb of all time, especially for women. It helps enhance egg production by supporting the follicle-stimulating hormone that’s integral to producing an ovum, and also rids the body of toxic estrogens that have entered from outside sources such as plastics and pesticides. Rich with bone-building and bone-protecting herbs such as silica, nettle leaf also has more than 40 trace minerals in their most bioactive, bioavailable, and assimilable states. All of this, plus nettle is helpful as a potent pain reliever that enhances our ability to thrive.”

Silica in nettle and the other teas below is also great for hair, skin and nails.

Raspberry Leaf

“Topically, It is wonderful for helping to heal skin conditions such as burns, cuts, rashes, eczema, and psoriasis. Raspberry leaf has been used for centuries as a “reproductive tonic” due to its ability to support both women’s and men’s reproductive health. It has been found to provide relief for women experiencing PMS, cramps, and heavy menstrual bleeding due to a compound it contains called ferulic acid.”

“Midwives often recommend pregnant women drink raspberry leaf tea just before and during labor to help induce and regulate timing of contractions and to help speed up delivery. It has also been used to help ease symptoms of morning sickness and nausea. Following birth, raspberry leaf tea is often recommended to help stimulate milk flow for breast feeding.”

“Raspberry leaf is the ideal reproductive system reorganizer and protector. It’s also an overall hormonal balancer and supports the entire endocrine system in hormone output. Raspberry leaf brewed as tea is one of the most profound tonics to address infertility and prepare a woman’s body for pregnancy. It is useful to help prevent miscarriages, and it is a secret tool to address exhaustion following childbirth and postpartum depression. Raspberry leaf is known to enhance production of breast milk. What doesn’t get attention is that raspberry leaf also fortifies the mother’s milk with vitamins and minerals, making it more nutritious for baby.”

“Raspberry leaf is also beneficial for men, mostly as a blood cleanser and overall detoxifier. For anybody, raspberry leaf’s phytochemicals, including antioxidant compounds such as anthocyanins and polyphenols, make it an all-purpose anti-inflammatory, specifically for the organs and glands. This herb is also amazing for those with iron deficiencies, helps grow hair when needed, and because it helps strengthen the pancreas, those who are dealing with pancreatitis can do very well on this herb.”

Lemon Balm

From the Medical Medium: “Lemon balm, also known as Melissa because of its botanical name Melissa officinalis, is an essential herb for calming the nerves—in particular, those involved with digestion. Many people suffer from various sensitivities in the gut, with complicated and confusing misdiagnoses involved. What’s often behind these problems are nerve endings that have become hypersensitive around the digestive organs. Nerves play a role in much of the digestive distress we experience in this day and age. For instance, inflamed phrenic nerves (which control the diaphragm and therefore influence the stomach) and vagus nerves (which run through the diaphragm and govern the stomach and digestion) are sometimes behind digestive sensitivities, as are nerves that connect the spine and digestive tract.”

“If someone’s stomach or intestines are irritated for no identifiable reason, it’s usually due to sensitive nerves. One common occurrence is that a food (even something very easy to digest) rubs against the lining of the intestinal tract, which causes someone with sensitive nerves to feel discomfort. Nerve sensitivities can also trigger symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, and a sudden urgency to eliminate when nervous. Lemon balm is a gift from God and Mother Nature to deal with our frazzling world; it’s wonderful for addressing all of these situations with its soothing properties, which come from bioactive phytochemicals such as undiscovered alkaloids that calm the nerve receptors at the digestive tract so that the nerves become less sensitized and inflammation reduces. This makes lemon balm a valuable herb for stress assistance.”

“And lemon balm doesn’t stop there. It is a heal-all, with a high contribution factor to almost every part of the body. Extremely high in trace minerals such as boron, manganese, copper, chromium, molybdenum, selenium, and iron, lemon balm also has large amounts of the macromineral silica. Plus it’s a B12-conserving herb—which means that it monitors your stores of this vitamin and keeps your body from using it all up. Anti parasitic, antiviral, and antibacterial throughout the body, lemon balm fights the Epstein-Barr virus, shingles, and other herpetic viruses such as HHV-6. It’s an amazing herb for tonsillitis, which is inflammation caused by strep bacteria. Plus, lemon balm detoxifies the liver, spleen, and kidneys, and helps reduce bladder inflammation, which makes it a star for alleviating interstitial cystitis and urinary tract infections (UTIs).”

Dandelion Leaf and Root

From the Medical Medium: “Dandelions help you cleanse out radiation, toxic heavy metals, DDT, and other poisons. What makes the dandelion unique is that every part of the plant can be used: root, leaves, flower, and even stem.”

“The flowers cleanse the hollow organs such as the stomach and intestinal tract, gallbladder, bladder, lungs, uterus, and heart.”

“Phytochemicals in dandelion leaves purify blood and also help bring it to hard-to-reach places, so the leaves are a must for circulatory issues such as poor circulation. The leaves’ bitterness is also geared to squeeze toxins out of the lymphatic system, making them ideal for helping with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, swollen lymph nodes, and edema.”

“The stems cleanse the dense organs such as the spleen, liver, and brain—for example, by pushing out bile that’s no longer useful.”

“The dandelion root detoxifies even deeper into those dense organs. This is the bitterest part of the plant, and it forces the organs to purge on the deepest level for an intensified purification.”

“Dandelion offers vital nutrients such as vitamin A, B vitamins, manganese, iodine, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, silica, and chlorophyll that give you energy and help your body stave off disease. Dandelion is a helpful preventative for virtually any illness, and is especially great for the prostate.”
